Ask a pharisee, "in a nutshell, what's the good news? They say "We come to you with the good news. Not the really good news though, don't believe what those "born-agains" say. God is not that kind and generous and powerful. But if you devote your life to spreading our belief system" they say "you might make it to paradise."

More light
Are you trying to show God your worthy? which by the way is exulting self. Human beings can't produce the kind of righteousness needed for entry into heaven. You actually need to have God's own righteousness inside you. Since "only God is righteous" and "all our righteous works are as filthy rags" and "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" righteousness can't be manufactured by us down here on earth, it can only be received. The only way God can look at you and see righteousness is for Him to give it to you, therefore our righteousness is based on receiving not producing. It can't be worked off because that makes humans boast before God. The only way to get into heaven is to believe that Jesus died for your ability to get in; God sent His righteous son to die for what keeps you out, and offers you the free gift of salvation to received as the only way.

That these people are trying to show God and there organisation and there neighbour that they should be allowed into paradise is a no brainer. The slavery, manipulation and fear by the organisation played on those poor little sheep is awful.

Can you seriously walk into an empty room at night with a light on and say that out of all the 1 centre meter squares of space in the room, yours, somewhere down in that dark corner, say 15J, is closer to representing the light in the darkness the then 1 centimeter square that contains the 1cm wire lit up by 240 volts?

Fun with Jesus?
Forget the images of the false religions with there suits and robes, real Christians love having fun since they can see and invent so many fun and fascinating things to do. Some love riding in cars shouting at people. Some love walking into a sea of trouble and letting the light shine. Some love going into places that are supposed to represent the light but are dark and dead and proud.

Producers and Receivers
I guess I've always loved going deep into a big subject and out the others side with a hand full of daisies. It's good to simply explain large truths, a lot of people are doing it these days. My favorite is the one that out of all the religions in the world, it is the only one that is completely different. Lets put all the books to all the religions on the table. Which one has the most information in it. Which one is the most creative. Which one has the most interesting story of a man and his torch.

Godly righteousness and salvation can't be produced; It can only be received. God divides up the "free gift" people and the "works of the law" people. Receivers of Him have better hearts. They realize that only God let's them in to paradise and God lets them into paradise. Those left outside are the producers of salvation and righteousness.
